POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (BRCCED) is a
provincial leader in the Deaf community.
Our Programs support Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deafblind adults some of whom
have complex behavioural, developmental and/or mental health diagnoses. This
position is responsible for delivery of employment service program supports
for clients which includes (but not limited to); marketing and intake of
eligible clientele who meet program needs, recruiting mentors and potential
employers, developing strong relationships with businesses and other
stakeholders who can offer support with mentorship, guest speaking, workplace
tours, employment opportunities, service coordination and cross referrals.

PRIMARY DUTIES

•	Collects and analyzes labour market information, develops firm
understanding of skill acquisition for clients for potential job
opportunities and prospecting of potential employers
•	Interviews clients about their employment history, education background
and careers goals
•	Provides support to individuals with complex behavioural and/or mental
health issues, unemployed, underemployed and/or other barriers to employment
•	Helps clients with job search strategies, resume writing, preparing for
job interviews and strategies for reaching careers goals
•	Provides support with employment action planning to individuals who have
identified disabilities or barriers to employment to meet service goals
•	Prepares short and long term strategies pertaining to specific learner
requirements, including job readiness and job retention workshops
•	Initiates, prepares, and participates in workshops for employers and the
community on Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing issues, accessibility, inclusion and
workplace accommodations
•	Presents workshops and seminars focused on accessibility issues related
to employment
•	Responds to job requests from employers and initiate daily cold calls to
employers to develop job leads for learners
•	Monitors services used by clients participating in the program and
follows-up when necessary



Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS

•	Diploma or currently enrolled in Social Services or a related field or
experience working in a residential setting with Consumers with developmental
disabilities, mental health needs and/or dual diagnosis
•	Knowledge and experience working within the Deaf community and fluency in
ASL is preferred
•	Demonstrated leadership, creative problem solving abilities; good
judgement and critical thinker
•	Excellent communication, literacy and interpersonal skills
•	Innovation, initiative and integrity
•	Demonstrated experience in computer literacy (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
•	Valid Ontario Full G Driver’s License and clean driving record an asset
•	French language/ LSQ an asset

Canada Summer Jobs Requirements
•	Must be within 15 to 30 years of age (as per Canada Summer Jobs
requirements)
•	Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance
Number
•	Must be able to commit to full 17 weeks at 16 hours per week
