The Congressional Budget Office is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analysis to the Congress. The Office of Communications, which supports CBO’s mission by developing, executing, and managing successful digital strategies, seeks a highly capable SharePoint administrator to oversee and direct CBO’s SharePoint Online platform. The SharePoint administrator will be expected to take full advantage of the modern SharePoint experience to further enhance CBO’s internal communications and collaborations at a time when employees are relying more and more on the intranet. The role’s responsibilities include:
• Maintaining the functionality, appearance, and accuracy of CBO’s intranet, using the SharePoint Online content management system;
• Maintaining content integrity, conducting random audits of live site content, improving the portal’s efficiency, and ensuring accessibility for users;
• Managing sitewide design, navigation, taxonomy, planning, and deployment, using SharePoint’s out-of-the-box functionality;
• Managing multiple sites on the platform (including team sites, staff resources sites, and Microsoft Teams), using a strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration;
• Overseeing existing sites, subsites, lists, libraries, and content, while managing all new requests for intranet projects and sites and maintaining security and user and group permissions;
• Providing support for SharePoint end users, resolving help desk tickets, and troubleshooting problems that arise in an expeditious, efficient, and timely manner;
• Following a quarterly review protocol and working with users to review and refresh intranet content to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information and images;
• Integrating new technologies, such as shared team sites for projects;
• Having a working knowledge of migration tasks and what is involved in performing data retrieval and running backup procedures to prevent data loss;
• Collaborating with external vendors on specific design projects, upgrades, and migrations; and
• Developing constructive working relationships with all CBO divisions, particularly counterparts in information and technology services.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant experience supporting, designing, developing, and administering SharePoint environments and applications. In addition, each applicant must:
• Have expertise with SharePoint and demonstrate specific knowledge of the function and makeup of Microsoft SharePoint;
• Have experience developing content in a content management system, such as Drupal;
• Have superior project-management and organizational skills;
• Have a proven track record of successfully implementing innovative SharePoint solutions and navigating complex project requirements, using best practices;
• Be able to create and edit images, using software tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or Adobe InDesign;
• Have proven experience using digital analytics software to produce periodic metrics reports that gauge performance and provide actionable insights;
• Have proven experience taking initiative and delivering high-quality customer service;
• Be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing complex projects;
• Be able to work effectively under tight deadlines in a sometimes demanding environment;
• Be a self-starter who is comfortable working individually and as part of a team and who is able to work on multiple efforts concurrently;
• Be able to communicate effectively with end users, team members, developers, administrators, and management; and
• A strong working knowledge of SharePoint PowerShell is preferred.
Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated Tier 1 background investigation.
