Description
We are currently recruiting for a newly created role, Social & Human Program Consultant 4/Unit Supervisor to oversee social service programs in our Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODHH) division of Aging and Long Term Support Administration at DSHS.

In this viable role, you will supervise a unit of SHPC 2 program managers that deliver statewide programs and training for people with communication modalities, hearing loss, communication barriers, and accessibility. Success in this role will come from those who communicate effectively in American Sign Language (ASL) and have strong skill sets in independent decision-making, public relations skills, and conflict management. A hybrid telework schedule is available for this role.

You will be an advocate on behalf of underserved communities and work to improve communication access resources to people that are deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing. You will utilize your management skills in evaluating staff performance and provide ongoing feedback to help staff develop and enhance their skills.

Some of what you will do

Direct and supervise social service staff and clerical support, who provide ODHH services
Develop and monitor short and long-term plans for each of the seven service programs
Coordinate and facilitate unit meetings and ODHH workgroup
Oversee the intake and coordination of service contracts
Conduct and review quality assurance audits

Requirements

Who should apply
A master's degree in social work, a health or social science, public administration, or a related field and 4 years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs
Or, a bachelor's degree in social work, a health or social science, public administration, or a related field and 5 years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs
Or, one year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 3
Or, 2 years of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 2
Professional experience working within the Developmental Disabilities Administration and use of DDA's CARE application is preferred

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities
Ability to supervise, set expectations, evaluate, coach, and identify staffing & training needs
Knowledge and experience of project management including developing plans, goals, timelines, identifying measurable outcomes
Knowledge of state and federal policies and regulations related to social, financial and health programs; principles and practices of program planning and evaluation; current social and economic problems related to clientele; principles of community organization and public administration; program consultation, development, contract development, monitoring, and negotiations.
Knowledge of overarching issues with deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened, and deaf-blind individuals with varying degrees of hearing loss and use of various communication methods, reasonable accommodations, and the legal rights including the ADA, Section 504, and other disability laws
