Job Description

DEAF, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offer community and interpreting services for deaf/hard of hearing communities. This is done through a meaningful unity of community outreach, advocacy, training, education, and media.
DEAF, Inc. offers internships that provide associate, undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to work with a diverse team and gain valuable hands-on work experience. The organization seeks energetic and self-motivated student or recent graduate interested in working with the deaf, hard of hearing and DeafBlind community. Areas of focus include office administration, human services, communication access advocacy, communications/public relations, and media outreach. See attachment page for Internship Tracks.

-Communications and Digital Multimedia

Requirements

Requirements: All applicants for an internship must be United States citizen and at least 18 years of age. All students who apply must have graduated from high school and be enrolled in a post-secondary school during the internship.
Background Investigation: Please note that participation as a student intern is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background investigation. Under no circumstances will a student be allowed to work in any capacity before their background investigation is successfully completed.
Work Schedules: DEAF, Inc. is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Most interns work full time, but we require a minimum commitment of 24 hours a week.
Academic Credit: Students accepted for an internship may earn academic credit while working in our office. Information on academic credit programs can be obtained from school placement offices.

Draft posts for two social media platforms and write a blog post (300 word maximum) for on an upcoming or recent event. You may find events on our website or Facebook page.
While not required, if you would like your portfolio to be considered you may submit it as either a PDF or a link, if hosted online. Sample portfolios may include photos, videos, graphics, or similar products that you created.
