| Job Description | If you want to work in an environment with a dynamic team that has a passion in reducing and removing blindness, low vision, and deafblind related barriers to employment, then this is the place for you. Job Duties: To enable blind and vision impaired individuals to achieve their desired level of employment, education, and independence. We are seeking to fill an Interpreter for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing to provide interpreting services as needed for staff working at DBVI. In accordance with RID’s Code of Ethics, provides interpreting/ transliterating services requiring a high level of accuracy, expressive and receptive skills utilizing all communication modes. The position you are applying for is an Hourly/Wage position. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than an average of 29 hours a week and can’t exceed 1500 hours during their employment year. This position does not include health insurance, retirement or leave. |

| Requirements | The ideal candidate will have: Knowledge/Experience: Training in Interpreting, completion of an interpreter training program or equivalent experience. Skills/Abilities: Proficiency in American Sign Language and other signing communication modalities. Certificate of Transliteration or Interpretation through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf or Quality Assurance Screening Level II or above through the VQAS testing system. |
