The Digital Media Specialist creates engaging, accessible digital content that advances DEAF, Inc.'s mission, programs, fundraising, and community outreach. This position manages video and photography projects from concept through distribution and supports social media, digital marketing, website media, graphic design, audiovisual technology, and organizational events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Video Production:
-Plan, coordinate, produce, edit, and deliver video and photography projects from concept through final distribution.
-Create promotional, educational, fundraising, testimonial, social media, and event content.
-Maintain production schedules, shot lists, project timelines, and other materials needed to complete assignments.
-Add captions, animations, and motion graphics to create engaging, accessible content.
-Prepare and export media for social media, websites, email, presentations, television, and other platforms.
-Organize, archive, and maintain video, photography, and other digital assets using established file-management practices.
Digital Marketing & Communications:
-Help support and schedule multimedia content for social media and digital campaigns.
-Support email marketing, website media updates, and other organizational communications.
-Develop reusable design templates and multimedia assets that reflect DEAF, Inc.’s brand.
-Monitor social media performance and recommend strategies to strengthen engagement and reach.
Accessibility & Brand Standards:
-Ensure all digital media complies with accessibility best practices, including accurate closed captions, transcripts when appropriate, image descriptions, and accessible digital content standards.
-Promote inclusive communication throughout all media produced by DEAF, Inc.
Equipment:
-Maintain the media studio, cameras, lighting, audio equipment, production workstations, and related technology.
-Recommend equipment upgrades and assist with implementation of new media technology.
-Provide photography, videography, audiovisual, and promotional support for organizational events.
-Participate in planning meetings and support fundraising, outreach, and community engagement activities.
General:
-Collaborate with staff across departments to plan and complete media projects.
-Attend team and organizational meetings as required.
-Adapt to evolving organizational and departmental needs, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
-Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
-At least two years of professional experience in video production, photography, multimedia, marketing, or digital content creation.
-Demonstrate ability to produce compelling visual stories through video and photography.
-Proficiency with DSLR and/or mirrorless camera systems, smartphone photography and videography, teleprompters, and professional lighting and audio equipment.
-Working proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and Photoshop; experience with Microsoft 365 and macOS.
-Understanding of social media platforms and current digital content practices, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
-Knowledge of accessible media practices, including captioning, visual communication, and inclusive content creation.
-Strong written English, organizational, project-management, and time-management skills.
-Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, work independently, and collaborate effectively.
Preferred:
-Associate or bachelor's degree in film production, digital media, communications, multimedia, marketing, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
-Experience with Adobe Illustrator, motion graphics, animation, livestream production, YouTube channel management, or Wix.
-Previous nonprofit marketing or community-based communications experience.
-Portfolio demonstrating video production, photography, and digital content work.
Working Conditions:
-Work is primarily performed on-site, with occasional off-site production assignments.
-Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
-Local and occasional statewide travel may be required. Independent and reliable transportation is required for off-site assignments.
-Ability to transport and lift production equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods during events.
