The State of Connecticut Department of Aging and Disability Services (ADS) is seeking two full-time Interpreters for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide high-quality, culturally responsive American Sign Language interpretation throughout Connecticut.
Interpreters will provide in-person and/or virtual expressive and receptive interpreting for Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees, consumers, professional staff, and partner organizations. Assignments may include meetings, trainings, conferences, telephone calls, and routine agency business.
Position Highlights:
-Two permanent, full-time positions
-Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, first shift
-Hybrid work opportunity
-Salary: $75,596* - $96,401/year (*New state employees start at the minimum)
-Potential office locations in Bridgeport, Hartford, Montville, New Haven, Waterbury, or Windsor, CT
-Regular statewide travel with mileage reimbursement

Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements:
- Possession and maintenance of a National Interpreting Certification
- Registrations as an interpreter with the State of Connecticut in accordance with Sec. 46a-33a of the Connecticut General Statutes
- Valid motor vehicle operators license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fluency in more than one interpreting modality
- Experience in more than one interpreting setting
- Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with accessibility laws and the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Code of Professional Conduct
- Experience using interpretation software and assistive devices
