Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman is seeking to hire a sign language Interpreter to join its New York office. The Interpreter will provide in-house interpreting to attorneys, staff and outside vendors as required.
The successful candidate will have 3+ years’ experience working in a professional services firm interpreting either on a one-on-one basis or in a group setting. The candidate will provide the following duties:
Provide in-house interpreting on an as needed basis; accompany and serve as an interpreter for attorneys and staff members in a variety of settings (i.e. training, client meeting, in-office meetings, conferences, ad hoc meetings.) The candidate may be required to travel and accompany individual(s) to court and other off-site venues as necessary; maintain confidentiality when attending client meetings and court appearances. Must possess a professional demeanor; strong verbal communication and listening skills, adhere to all policies and procedures. The successful candidate must be able to adapt quickly to changing environments; ability to demonstrate high quality American Sign Language (“ASL”) and spoken English skills. Candidate should have experience working in a professional services environment, law firm experience preferred. Candidate will be licensed and/or have a state certification. BA/BA degree preferred or equivalent in experience.
In addition to the above responsibilities, when not interpreting, this role will also be a member of the Practice Assistants team and assist with administrative tasks (i.e. diary entry, processing invoices, editing prebills.) There may be other administrative tasks assigned as needed. MS Office Suite is a must.
Licensed interpreter. Worked in a professional services environment, preferably law firm.
