The Interpreting Services Department at The Learning Center for the Deaf provides American Sign Language interpreting in a variety of settings, including educational, medical and therapeutic environments. Our Deaf interpreters have extensive training in utilizing their native knowledge of ASL for assessment and specialized situations. These assignments require nuanced translations that contain cultural, visual, tactile and linguistic elements. We also provide information regarding the Deaf Community, how to work with interpreters, and how to make communication more accessible. Our team of schedulers coordinate, schedule, and support interpreters in an effort to maintain the smooth operation of the entire department.

SUPERVISOR: Interpreting Services Manager

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answer phone calls, videophone calls, and manage shared email inbox including setting up and corresponding with new and existing clients in a timely manner.

Collect all information and items to assist interpreters in their preparation for the assignments in a timely manner.

Assess the needs for teams/Deaf Interpreters/other spoken languages or any type of support for an assignment and make additional requests when needed.

Manage and assign interpreters in a timely manner to assignments by using a scheduling platform.

Communicate efficiently with Staff and CPT (Per Diem) Interpreters to fill, and update changes for, the requests in a timely manner.

Work with Interpreting Services Manager in regards to schedule changes and absences.

Provide orientation of scheduling platform to new users, including interpreters, clients and consumers.

Update profiles of clients, consumers, and interpreters.

Assist with preparing payroll spreadsheets and updating client/customer billing information with our Business office.

Notify and assist in supporting Interpreting Services Manager in coordinating needs for TLC community wide events and pro-bono opportunities.

Attend In-Service and staff development activities, as appropriate.
