Job Title
Logistics Management Specialist

Work Responsibilities
I provide logistical support to naval aircraft:  helicopters, fighter planes, cargo planes, etc. I coordinate all materials acquisition, which includes determination of appropriate repair, refurbishment, modification and new part procurement. I review the costs associated with logistical support and interface with internal and external customers to reduce supply system costs while maintaining aircraft readiness. I monitor progress on the logistics plan, resolve elements that might affect materials delivery and analyze the impact of delays or other problems. Participating in briefings, creating reports, completing analyses and recommendations for future logistics program planning and execution also are part of my job.

How my career relates to my degree from RIT/NTID
I’ve found that my Finance background, especially the theoretical foundations of Finance easily translate into supply chain management. Specific coursework in managing corporate assets and liabilities has been very useful as has some coursework in professional communications for business, helping me incorporate proper communication techniques into my work.

Advice
Find an area you are passionate about. Once you identify it, study hard, ask lots of questions and apply what you have learned. Don’t forget to go outside your comfort zone and meet new people both in your major and in other majors as well.
