RIT Peace Corps Prep Program

The RIT Peace Corps Prep Program is designed for students interested in post-graduate service, the Peace Corps, or other global service programs. Throughout the duration of the program, students will complete curricular, co-curricular, and international activities that will enhance their skills and knowledge and clarify their commitment to international service. Students can apply for participation in the program at any point during their RIT academic career.

Program Curriculum

To complete the PC Prep Program students will need to:

  • Complete the foreign language requirement
  • Complete the 2-3 courses that meet each of the following competencies:
    • Agriculture
    • Economic
    • Education
    • Cultural Awareness
    • Economic Development
  • Complete 50 hours of service
  • Complete the application process

  • Guidance from the Peace Corps Prep Program Coordinator as you select from academic and co-curricular opportunities that will prepare you to apply to serve in the Peace Corps or other international service programs.
  • Opportunities to hear from Returned Peace Corps Volunteers about their experiences.
  • Participation in a community committed to international understanding and service.

Program Eligibility

All majors are welcome and you must be at least a second-semester freshman to apply.

Program Application Process

In addition to describing your plans for language study, study abroad, and course of study, the application requires a personal statement, a resume, and a transcript.
