NYC Billboard Photo Contest

Official Rules: RIT NYC Billboard Photo Contest

No purchase necessary. This contest is governed exclusively by the laws of the State of New York. You are not authorized to participate in the contest if you are not a legal resident of the United States. Void where prohibited, taxed, or restricted by law

  1. Contest Sponsor
    The contest (“Contest”) is sponsored by Rochester Institute of Technology (“Sponsor”), located at 1 Lomb Memorial Drive, Rochester NY 14623
  2. Eligibility
    • Participation is open only to legal residents of New York State who are 18 or older as of the date of entry. Void outside of New York State and where prohibited, taxed or restricted by law. Contest may only be entered in or from New York State and entries originating from any other jurisdiction are not eligible for entry. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. One entry per person.
    • Employees, officers, and directors of the Sponsor, their immediate family members, and those living in the same household are not eligible to participate
    • The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.
  3. Contest Period
    The Contest begins on 11/12/25 at 12:00AM EST and ends on 11/30/25 at 11:59PM EST (the “Contest Period”). All entries must be received during the Contest Period.
  4. How to Enter
    There are three ways to enter:
    • Locate the RIT Billboard at the corner of 33rd and 7th Ave in New York City, New York
    • Take an original photograph of yourself or your group, with the billboard clearly visible in the photo
    • Post the photo on a public social media account* (Facebook, Instagram) and tag the RIT official accounts @rittigers 
      *If you have a private account, please submit a direct message to @rittigers to show us your post

  5. Limitations
    Limit one (1) entry per person (for group photos only one person can enter). Entries must not contain obscene, defamatory, illegal, or inappropriate content. Any attempt by any individual to obtain more than one contest entry by using multiple/different e-mail or wireless accounts, or any other methods will void all of that individual’s entries, and that individual will be disqualified. All entries and their content become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

    Participants must accept the terms and conditions including: 1) Completing and signing an RIT Gifts Given Form, 2) Completing and signing an IRS W-9 Form (Request for Taxpayer ID Number and Certification), and 3) Completing and signing an RIT Determination of Citizenship Requirement Form to the Sponsor prior to distribution of the prizes.
  6. Random Drawing/Odds
    A potential winner will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries received. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received for the drawing. Drawing will be conducted by a Sponsor representative from RIT Marketing and Communications on or about December 8, 2025. By entering the Contest, entrants fully and unconditionally agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges, which will be final and binding in all matters relating to the Contest.
  7. Prize
    • One (1) winner will be selected to receive an RIT swag bag containing a sweatshirt (size will be required to know once winner is contacted), flag, magnet and hat
    • Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $225 (RIT is required to follow Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations regarding the taxable status of prize drawings. Therefore, this prize may be considered taxable)
    • The prize is non-transferable, and no cash or other substitution is permitted.
    • Prize will be distributed via USPS 2-3 weeks after confirmation of winner.

    All prizes offered will be awarded.

  8. Winner Notification
    The winner will be notified via direct message on social media on or about 12/8/25.

    The winner must respond and claim the prize within seven (7) days of notification. If any prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, winner fails to respond, any winner rejects their prize, or any winner is found to be in non-compliance with these Contest rules and requirements, such prize will be forfeited and an alternative winner will be selected from all remaining eligible entries. Upon prize forfeiture, no compensation will be given.

    Winner must provide shipping information for prize to be delivered or will coordinate a pick-up time if local to Rochester, NY.

  9. Winner
    The name of the winner can be obtained by contacting Jennelle Hart at jmhmkt@rit.edu beginning on December 8, 2025.

  10. Rights to Photograph
    By entering the contest and submitting your photograph, each entrant grants the Sponsor irrevocable,  perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, and display the entry (photo and related text) for promotional and advertising purposes, in all media, without further compensation. The entrant confirms that they have obtained the necessary rights and written permissions from all people visible in the photograph to grant this license to Sponsor.

  11. Conditions
    All federal, state, and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. By participating, entrants and winners agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor from any and all liability, for loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense whatsoever including without limitation, property damage, personal injury and/or death which may occur in connection with, preparation for, travel to, or participation in Contest, or possession, acceptance and/or use or misuse of any prize or participation in any Contest-related activity and for any claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy and merchandise delivery. Entrants who do not comply with these Official Rules or attempt to interfere with this Contest in any way shall be disqualified.

  12. Release of Liability
    By entering this Contest, You agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, its officers, directors, employees, and agents, suppliers, distributors, advertising/Contest agencies, prize suppliers, and each of their respective parent companies and each such company’s officers, directors, employees, trustees and agents, as well as Meta, Snapchat or TikTok (collectively, the “Released Parties”)  from any and all actions, liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim, or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, in any manner, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from  participation in the contest and/or the acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize; (ii) technical failures of any kind; (iii) the unauthorized human intervention in any part of the promotion.

    Without limiting the foregoing paragraph, Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, damaged, inaccurate, stolen, undelivered, garbled or misdirected entries; or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing of entries, the announcement of the prizes, or in any Contest-related materials; Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by users, tampering, hacking or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to entrants related to or resulting from participating in this Contest.

  13. Social Media Disclaimer
    This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Meta. By entering, you provide a complete release of Meta from any and all liability.
