RIT SIS (Student Information System) is the central hub for managing your academic life at RIT. It’s where you register for classes, view your schedule, check your grades, and handle all the administrative details of being a student. While it’s a powerful tool, it can feel overwhelming at first, so here’s a quick guide to help you navigate it more confidently!

  1. 1. Logging In

To access SIS go to RIT InfoCenter and log in with your RIT username and password. You’ll need to have Duo two-factor authentication set up for secure access.

  2. Screenshot of the SIS website under the tab 'academic records’ tab.

Options you see under the 'Academic Records

  3. 2. Registering for Classes

One of the most common tasks you’ll use SIS for is registering for classes. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

    • Go to the ‘Enroll & Search’ tab
    • Use the ‘Class Search and Enroll’ feature to find the courses you need.
    • Add them to your shopping cart, then proceed to enroll once registration is open.
    • Don’t forget to check for prerequisites and seat availability before enrolling!
  4. 3. Checking Grades and Transcripts

SIS is also where you can check your grades at the end of each semester. Just navigate to the ‘View Grades’ section under the ‘Academic Records’ tab. If you need an official transcript, you can request one here in the ‘Request Official Transcript’ section as well.

  5. 4. Managing Financials

Keep track of your tuition bills, financial aid, and student account balances under the ‘eServices’ tab. You can also set up payment plans or check for any outstanding charges.

  6. 5. Personal Information and Holds

Make sure your contact information is all up to date and check for any holds that might prevent you from registering or accessing certain services. This is also where you’ll update your emergency contacts.

  7. 6. Additional Features

    • Course Planner: Helps you plan your semesters ahead of time.
    • Enrollment Dates: View when your registration period opens
    • Advisor Info: Find your advisor’s contact details

While SIS can be a bit intimidating at first, spending some time exploring its features can make managing your academic life much easier! Whether it’s checking your grades, planning your schedule, or handling your financials, it’s a one-stop shop for all things RIT!
