RIT Co-op Experiences: Real Students, Real Impact

RIT students gain hands-on experience and industry insight through co-op programs that put classroom learning into action. From design and engineering to data analytics and cybersecurity, these experiences help students build skills, make professional connections, and prepare for future careers. Here are five stories from students who thrived during their co-ops.

Industrial Design at FieldTex Cases

“Both being given a prototype and full creative freedom were experiences that I learned a lot from,” said Emily. She turned a creative approach to job searching into a design internship at FieldTex, where she worked on prototypes and production-ready products.

“The guidance and support from my team made this co-op an incredible and impactful experience, both professionally and personally,” said Daniel. He honed his data analysis and automation skills while collaborating with multiple teams to improve workflows.

“I had so much success at my internship thanks to my incredible manager, mentor, and iBuddy who helped me every step of the way,” shared James. James gained hands-on cybersecurity experience and extensive networking opportunities within Apple’s Information Security organization.

Network Development Engineer Intern at Amazon

“It was rewarding to contribute to a project that improved operational efficiency for a global network team,” said Greeshma. She led an automation project to streamline network deployment processes, applying both RIT skills and new technical tools.

Matthew Stanton 

Equipment and Engine Attachment Systems Co-op at Parker LORD Corporation

“The work I do is truly meaningful,” said Matthew. “Reports I write are sent to customers, and analysis I provide is treated equally to the work of others.” Matthew contributed to real engineering projects, gaining experience in both technical skills and professional communication.
