RIT, named as a top “National University,” continues its upward trajectory, rising to No. 88 in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report rankings. The publication also cited RIT as being among the best universities in value, game design/simulation, experiential learning with co-ops and internships, and innovation.

Following a national search, Rochester Institute of Technology has named Allan Mathew as its assistant vice president and dean of admissions.

The new listing of the nation’s prestigious research universities is the highest to date for RIT, a jump of seven spots from last year.

More than 3,100 new RIT students got their official welcome Thursday, first parading past cheering faculty and staff in the annual Tiger Walk, then in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center for some friendly advice during this year’s Fall Convocation for New Students.

Kathleen Davis has been named vice president for Enrollment Management at RIT. Davis begins her duties at RIT on Sept. 1. She has served as vice president for enrollment and retention management at Saint Louis University, a private Jesuit research university in Missouri, since 2018.
