AWARE-AI Workshop: Personal Responsibility and AI Agents in Moral Decision-Making
This AWARE-AI workshop, facilitated by Dr. Jesús Aguilar of RIT's Department of Philosophy, will focus on personal and collective responsibility.
As AI systems increasingly make decisions that affect human lives—from autonomous vehicles navigating emergency situations to AI-driven healthcare recommendations—fundamental questions about moral responsibility emerge. Who is accountable when an AI system makes a life-altering choice? This workshop explores the ethical complexities of delegating moral decisions to artificial intelligence. Participants will examine core concepts of moral agency, investigate why and how humans delegate responsibility, and grapple with the unique challenges posed by AI decision-making systems.
