Alumnus returns as Edmund Lyon speaker
Michael Bloomfield
Michael Bloomfield, an RIT/NTID alumnus who works as a database developer for BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, is returning to the RIT campus Thursday, Oct. 24, to present “Embrace Technology, Impact Your Career.”
His talk is part of this year’s Edmund Lyon Memorial Lectureship Series. It will begin at 7 p.m. in the CSD Student Development Center and will be followed by questions at 8 p.m.
He will be using American Sign Language. Interpreters and captioning services will be available.
The talk is free and open to the public, as is an investment seminar he’ll be conducting 1-2 p.m. Oct. 25 in the CSD Student Development Center.
Bloomfield was former president of Sigma Nu fraternity at RIT/NTID and performed for three years with the RIT/NTID Dance Company before graduating in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. His wife, Nancy, also graduated from RIT/NTID in 1994. They have four children and live near Seattle.
For the past five years, he has developed BlackRock’s internal client relationship management system. The company manages $3.9 trillion in assets in 72 offices around the world.
Bloomfield also co-founded ButterflyHands.com, an online system to request a sign language interpreter.
