Barrios presents at IEEE SmartComp

Carlos Barrios, senior lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Microelectronic Engineering, presented his paper “CaSCON - Cache-Assisted Service Composition Orchestration Leveraging Named Data Networking” at the IEEE SmartComp 2025 conference in Cork, Ireland. The research, co-authored by Mohan Kumar, professor in the Department of Computer Science, and Ethan Alker, a fourth-year electrical engineering major, explores how Named Data Networking's in-network caching and flexible forwarding rules can enhance the efficiency and scalability of service-based applications. The research was a continuation of work previously presented at IEEE PerCom in 2024, where it won Best Ph.D. Forum paper.
