Best in Film from RIT Hit the Big Screen

RIT’s School of Film and Animation holds Honors Show at Little Theatre Sept. 29

The animation A Night in the Jungle is one of the films to be featured in this year’s School of Film and Animation Honors Show. It was produced by Ignacio Barrios Cabrera, an MFA film student.

Two student filmmakers from Rochester Institute of Technology were among this year’s finalists of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 39th Annual Student Academy Awards competition. This is just one example of the honors and accolades garnered by students in RIT’s School of Film and Animation.

The Rochester community will have the chance to see the caliber of films produced by RIT student filmmakers at the annual School of Film and Animation Honors Show, 1-4 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Little Theatre, 240 East Ave., Rochester.

The show will feature 24 films including live action, animation, fiction, documentary and experimental pieces. Students represented range from first year to graduate level.

“Many of our students’ films go on to national and international festivals so it’s a wonderful opportunity for the local community to see the films and support our students,” says Jack Beck, professor in RIT’s School of Film and Animation.

Tickets are $5 for the general public; RIT students and faculty are free with valid ID.
