RIT President David Munson and his wife, Nancy, both wearing RIT orange, congratulate The Jive, a jazz combo formed in 2023, for the group’s performance of ‘Blacck.’ The Jive won first place and $1,000 in Ovation: RIT Performing Arts Showcase on Feb. 7. Currents in Sync, a tap dance duo of Hannah Boettcher, left, a fourth-year physician assistant major from Brewerton, N.Y., and Yasmin Khan, a third-year biology major from Cicero, N.Y., won second prize and $500 in Ovation: RIT Performing Arts Showcase on Feb. 7. They have been dancing together for more than 10 years.

Nearly 80 RIT students made up 13 performances of singing, dancing, instrumental music, even a yo-yo performance by Max Gonzaga, a second-year mechatronics engineering technology major from Pleasantville, N.Y., during Ovation: RIT Performing Arts Showcase on Feb. 7. It was the eighth year of the competition, started by RIT President David Munson, to promote performing arts on campus.
