Crime Alert: Assault Reported on Campus

The victim has been released from Strong Memorial Hospital, and authorities are continuing their investigation.

2:30 p.m. Aug. 15 update from RIT News:

A second-year RIT commuter student was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital today with non-life-threatening injuries after reporting that she was assaulted on campus this morning.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and RIT Public Safety are continuing their investigations, and the campus has increased security patrols.

A subject of the investigation was described as a white male in his early-to-mid-20s, 5’10” and approximately 180 pounds, with dark hair, wearing a white sweatshirt and driving a black Honda Civic.

The area of the reported incident (off Andrews Drive near Gleason Circle) has reopened.

Anyone with information that can help with the investigation or who witnessed the Honda Civic on the side of the road is asked to contact RIT’s Public Safety Department at 585-475-3333 (voice/TTY) or at IM: ritpublicsafety.

From RIT Public Safety:

At 11:25 this morning, a female student reported to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and RIT’s Public Safety Department that she was assaulted on the south side of campus near Andrews Memorial Drive at approximately 9 a.m.

The male subject parked his black Honda Civic on the side of Andrews Memorial Drive near U Lot with his vehicle hood up prior to the assault. The subject was described as a male white, early-to-mid-20s, 5’10”, approximately 180 pounds, dark hair and wearing a white sweatshirt.

The investigation continues and additional security patrols will also be monitoring campus properties until further notice.
