ECE Ph.D. program welcomes new faculty and celebrates faculty achievement

With the start of the 2021 fall semester, the electrical and computer engineering Ph.D. program welcomes Dr. Dongfang Liu, who joins RIT’s department of computer engineering as an assistant professor. Dr. Liu earned his Ph.D. degree from Purdue University. His current research interests include artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, deep learning, computer vision and human-computer interaction. His publication portfolio includes flagship conferences in the AI and robotics domain such as CVPR, ICCV, AAAI, WACV, and IROS.

Faculty member, Dr. Panos Markopoulos recently earned tenure and was promoted to the rank of associate professor in the department of electrical and microelectronic engineering. Dr. Markopoulos founded the Machine Learning Optimization and Signal Processing Laboratory (MILOS LAB) at RIT in 2015. The lab's expertise is in theory and algorithms for machine learning, data analysis, and signal processing.
