Former Undersecretary of Energy to speak Dec. 11

The RIT Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science will honor notable scientists this month during its annual Imaging Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

The public event will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the Carlson Auditorium. A reception will follow at TC Riley’s in Park Point. Registration is required.

“Three individuals will be inducted for their development of foundational theories of imaging, demonstration of key imaging technologies or systems, novel applications of imaging devices or leadership in the imaging industry,” said Joe Pow, associate director of the Center for Imaging Science.

The keynote speaker will be Steven Koonin, former Undersecretary of Energy for Science and current director of the Center for Urban Science and Progress at New York University.

Each year, the Center for Imaging Science celebrates a selection of scientists whose work has impacted the field of imaging science throughout history. Famed notables include Galileo, Marie Curie, George Eastman, Sir Isaac Newton, Chester F. Carlson, Anne Mulcahy, Steve Sasson and others.
