Maqsood, SenthilKumar, and Diouf publish in Optics Express
Sarmad Maqsood, a physics BS/MS student; Duvarakanath SenthilKumar, an artificial intelligence MS student; and Mbaye Diouf, assistant professor in the School of Physics and Astronomy, co-authored “Deep learning-assisted recognition of space-time wave packets carrying orbital angular momentum in scattering media,” in Optics Express. Their research in the Diouf Lab combines structured light with artificial intelligence to more reliably recognize information carried by light after it passes through scattering materials, with potential applications in optical communication, imaging, and sensing.
