McFadden presents on Black grief and injustice and Black visual culture at UR

Joshua Rashaad McFadden, assistant professor in the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences, presented “Trials Dark on Every Hand: Perpetual Black Grief and Injustice” Sept. 19 at the University of Rochester’s Humanities Center. The lecture explored the longstanding effects of systemic injustices on the Black community and the resilience demonstrated in the face of adversity. McFadden also presented a lecture for the Keynote Artists’ Session at the Black Visual Culture | Black Visual Life Fall Symposium, held Sept. 28-29 by the University of Rochester’s Frederick Douglass Institute.
