More than a dozen advanced placement students studying Italian from Greece Athena High School visited RIT to help celebrate Carnevale. They looked at pictures of Italy from local photographer Andrea Francesco Moretti (left) in the University Gallery, enjoyed pizza and cookies, and heard presentations about Carnevale from RIT students studying Italian.

Delving In, the current exhibition at Gallery r, features creative research in the visual arts and imaging sciences in the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. The show is on view through Feb. 21, Thursday-Sunday, 1-5 p.m.

RIT’s College Activities Board hosted its annual Super Bowl party in the Gordon Field House on Feb. 7. The game was projected and captioned on two giant screens. The free event included 134 pizzas, 600 wings, prizes and giveaways.

First-year computer engineering technology student Matt Dantl participated in Fusion Fest ’16. RIT’s Electronic Gaming Society, in conjunction with RIT’s MAGIC Center, hosted the 24-hour charity LAN (local area network) party Feb. 5 and 6. The event, which included video-game playing, speakers and wellness activities, helped raise awareness for electronic games as a form of pain distraction for people battling cancer and benefited Cancer Wellness Connections.

The Rochester-Finger Lakes Middle and High School Art Exhibition in Bevier Gallery is hosted by RIT’s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. The show runs through Feb. 22.

Anand Srinivasan, a first-year graduate student in packaging science from India, spoke to Fisher Price representative Lakeshia Haynes at the Packaging Science Career Fair Feb. 3. Students can learn about employment opportunities and arrange interviews for the following two days on campus.

Manhattan-based office furniture retailer Poppin is the industry partner for Metaproject 06. The venue for student output is the 2016 International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York City this May.

The College of Liberal Arts Performing Arts Program and National Technical Institute for the Deaf’s Performing Arts Program present Tribes, a comedy/drama about family conflict that arises when a son brings his deaf girlfriend home to meet his parents, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 and 6, and 2 p.m. Feb. 7 in Panara Theater. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors ages 55+ and $7 for all others, and can be purchased at the NTID box office or by emailing ntidtix@rit.edu. Kerfala Fana Bangoura and his group, Mounafanyi Percussion and Dance Ensemble, performed during the Black History Month kickoff celebration Feb. 2, sponsored by the Center for Campus Life and the Office for Diversity and Inclusion.

Nineteen RIT students traveled to Cuba for the Photography in Cuba course, a nine-day intensive study abroad experience. The objective of the course is to introduce students to a unique culture through lectures, field trips, museums and photographing the environment and people. Students met industry professionals from more than a dozen companies, including ARM, Analog Devices, Cypress Semiconductor, ST Microelectronics, NXP Semiconductors and MathWorks. The day featured a keynote speaker, demonstrations, exhibits and workshops. ARM’s University Program and the departments of Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering in RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering sponsored the event.
