Teams from the nation’s top 10 cybersecurity universities came to RIT Nov. 22-24 to face-off in the Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) International Finals. A member from RIT's team, Mohammed Alsherhi, works during the competition.

RIT's esports team and RIT Public Safety officers took part in a friendly Call of Duty tournament Nov. 23 at RIT's MAGIC Center. The event helped raise money for mental health awareness. 

Khaled Fallath, an architecture graduate student from Saudi Arabia, talks about his 21-day stay in Italy during the Global Learning Symposium on Nov. 20. RIT is hosting several events for International Education Week, which celebrates the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. The symposium provided students an opportunity to share their academic accomplishments from their study and work abroad experiences.

Native American Heritage Month keynote speaker Mariah Gladstone presented a talk and demonstration about Native foods. Gladstone developed Indigikitchen, an online cooking platform, to revitalize Native American foods. Here, she met with a small group in the MOSAIC Center for further discussions later in the day.

RIT teamed up with Feeding Children Everywhere to package and prepare 20,000 meals for local and international food banks for the Giving Tuesday Hunger Project. 

Presenters Amir Rezaei-Bazkiaei, left, high performance building analyst from Cannon Design, talks with Michelle Gabrieloff-Parish, assistant director for energy and climate justice at University of Colorado, during a session break. The New York Coalition for Sustainability in Higher Education presented the 2019 State of New York Sustainability Conference Nov. 13-15 on the RIT campus. The conference theme was Connecting Campus to Community through Sustainability.

RIT has an a cappella group that sings exclusively in Japanese. The group’s name, Kaminari, means “thunder” in Japanese. They performed at the kick-off party for International Education Week.

The kick-off party for International Education Week included games, food, music, crafts and performances.

Dean Fallas, a game design and development student from Oxford, Conn., weaves beads for his Wampum belt. Native American Future Stewards conducted a class for first-year students about beading and Wampum making as part of their RIT 365 experience which introduces new students to all sorts of offerings at RIT. 
 

College of Science students celebrated being named to the Dean’s List for the 2018-2019 academic year with faculty and staff at a ceremony and reception.
