RIT Professor Emeritus Dane Gordon authored the second edition of his book, which chronicles the history of Rochester Institute of Technology. At a release party in Wallace library on Oct. 5, Gordon signed a stream of books and chatted with Dr. Douglas Merrill, Professor and Director of the Center for Bioscience Education and Technology. -

RIT Facilities Management Services treated students with flowering plants for their dorm rooms on Oct. 10. They handed out kalanchoe plants, along with care instructions, indicating they would survive life in the dorms. -

Volkswagenâs Dieselution Tour set up at RIT on Oct. 8-9. The traveling exhibit showcased new clean diesel and alternative fuel technology with interactive displays and some of their latest cars. -

A $1 million gift from American Packaging Corp. was announced on Oct. 10. The gift will fund the expansion of RITâs Center for Integrated Plastics. The center will be renamed the American Packaging Center for Plastics & Packaging Innovation. -

This yearâs theme, Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the New Economy, emphasized how digital technologies created new industries and changed the nature of competition among industries. David Sifry, founder and chairman of Technorati Inc., gave the keynote address. -

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak attended the 10th annual Brick City Homecoming weekend as the Horton Distinguished Speaker. After his talk, Wozniak signed his autobiography (iWoz), MacBooks, iPhones and iPods. -

Rhythm and blues performer Rihanna kicked off Brick City Homecomingâs entertainment in the Gordon Field House Oct. 5. Rihanna, who recently released her third album, Good Girl Gone Bad, topped the charts with her lead single, Umbrella, which was a collaboration with rap superstar Jay-Z. -
