    Three eagles, one penguin, one polar bear, one kangaroo, one ape, one fish and a bigger-than-life elephant, are painted, decorated and dressed to the nines—thanks to the artistry of Kevin Serwacki and Chris Pallace. The two RIT illustration alumni (1996) have teamed up to design and decorate the menagerie for Rochester’s large-scale community arts project, Animal Scramble—the new version of Horses on Parade.

Members of PUB, a career and community service-oriented student group, are training 6th, 7th and 8th graders from James Madison School of Excellence in Rochester in print and imaging techniques.

    RIT’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics hosted the Monroe County Math League All-Star Competition March 6. Approximately 600 students from across the Monroe County area attended the daylong event competing with each other in small-scale competitions across campus, struggling to advance to the next level of competition and, for a very few, the final round.

    Thomas Barker, associate professor in the College of Engineering's Center for Quality and Applied Statistics is the guest author in the library's Meet the Author series, Feb. 19. Barker has authored many books, including, “Quality by Experimental Design” and “Engineering Quality by Design.”

    Audrey Eyring tries on a self-designed paper garment. Her creation came as the result of a class assignment in 3-D design. More than 200 first-year art students assembled costumes inspired by a specific historical era—ranging from ancient Egypt to the Art Nouveau period of the early 20th century. Classmates will show off their creativity during an end-of-quarter celebration in the SAU cafeteria on Feb. 19, from 7-10 p.m.
