    New York state middle-school students engineer, explore and experiment at the 12th annual E3 Engineering and Technology Fair, May 10. The fair featured two dozen interactive science projects including a scale model of the solar system displayed on the RIT campus and surrounding communities. The fair was sponsored by the Rochester Engineering Society.

    Judges inspect a manufacturing work cell built by students from Birmingham Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Mich., at the 16th annual National Robotic Technology and Engineering Challenge May 5 at RIT. The two-day event, hosted by RIT for the first time, drew 600 students and more than 1,000 spectators from across the nation.

    In celebration of Arbor Day on April 26, about 60 people, including members of RIT’s Student Environmental Action League, RIT landscape architect Bonnie Majestic-Trobe and other helpers, planted eight maple trees near Building 86. The trees had been uprooted and "orphaned" by construction of the building that will house the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences.

    Industrial design students from the School of Design profit from a bright idea, April 25. They sold 90 lamps on campus, each one created for their senior project in furniture design. Students were graded on their design and production skills.
