Graphic artist Annie Nicholson enjoyed documenting the glass artistry of faculty and students in the School of Art’s glass program. The glass program invited Nicholson as part of its visiting artist lecture series. RIT/NTID helped make voting more accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing voters at the new on-campus polling place in the Gene Polisseni Center by providing interpreters throughout Election Day. Among those voting was Jasmine Archer, majoring in administrative support technology in the Business Studies Department from Bronx, N.Y. Providing interpreting support is Cynthia Collward from NTID’s Department of Access Services.

She met with members of the RIT community and gave a talk on “Power, Perception and Prejudice.” The RIT Inclusive Excellence team in the College of Science hosted the event with many campus partners.

Rubin is the first cartoonist-in-residence at RIT and visited The Cary Graphic Arts Collection during his stay this week. He is presenting the east coast premiere of Drawing Inspiration, the pilot of a proposed television travel/documentary/reality program with co-creator Ryan Johnson. The free showing, presented by RIT and the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, will be 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 in RIT’s Webb Auditorium.

RIT President David Munson, center, attended his first meeting with RIT’s Native American Advisory Council Nov. 2. The council was created to help the university build lasting and productive partnerships with tribal governments based on mutual respect and reciprocity. The discussion between RIT administrators, tribal and education leaders, and the Native American Future Stewards Program director focused on the recruitment and the retention of Native scholars at RIT.
