RIT Men’s Lacrosse wins Liberty League Championship
The RIT Men’s Lacrosse team celebrated after winning the Liberty League championship on Sunday.
RIT Men’s Lacrosse won its 13th Liberty League title after beating No. 3 Union 17-7 on Sunday.
The Tigers have won 11 straight conference championships from 2012-2023 and again in 2025.
RIT, who won back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022, earns an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament. RIT will play Elmhurst University in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday, May 9, at Salisbury University.
Sophomore attacker Ryan Sanders scored a season-high five goals and seven points to lead the No. 3 Tigers the league title. Sanders was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player tallying nine goals in two Liberty League Tournament contests.
Sophomore midfielders Ryan Bullock and Ryan Langille each tallied a goal and two assists, and senior attacker Tyson Allison scored two goals.
First-year faceoff specialist Philip Minardo won 7-of-12 faceoffs while junior long-stick midfielder Logan Fletcher grabbed four ground balls. Fletcher, junior attack Erich Acton, junior defenseman Joe Holenstein, senior defensive midfielder Joe Gibbons and senior long-stick midfielder Tyler Kuchar each caused two turnovers.
Senior goalie Alex Zborowski made nine saves for the Tigers and junior Chase Strychaluk made four saves in relief.
It is the 27th time the Tigers have competed in the tournament, including 16 straight seasons.
