RIT Offers Free Seminars on Lean Accounting and Grant Application Assistance
When companies adopt the tools and tenets of lean enterprise, they must also retool their accounting systems. Lean accounting maximizes the return on investment that employers can realize from moving towards lean enterprise.
The first of two free seminars sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Lean Enterprise at RIT’s Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies (CIMS) teaches how to successfully integrate lean accounting techniques into a lean enterprise operation.
Wednesday, Sept. 26—Lean Accounting with Brian Maskell, author of Performance Management for World Class Manufacturing. Topics include lean financial, operational and management accounting. The free seminar runs 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Xerox Auditorium, in the James. E. Gleason building at RIT.
"There is increasing interest in lean accounting approaches as companies adopt lean manufacturing methods. The radical changes that are associated with lean manufacturing must be reflected in the accounting, control and measurement systems used to track and control a companys’ operations," says Maskell. "The result is a totally new way to control a production operation, a radically different approach to performance measurement, a new role for the accounting people, elimination of waste in every area of the company and a focus on the value created for the customer."
Wednesday, Oct. 3—Work Force Development Grant Assistance. During the last round of funding, $15 million in state grants were awarded to 83 high technology and manufacturing organization in New York state for workforce training.
