Gallery’s Unseen Neighbors: Homeless in Rochester exhibition ends this Friday

Rochester Institute of Technology’s Gallery r has brought the plight of Rochester’s homeless to the forefront with its thought-provoking exhibition “Unseen Neighbors: Homeless in Rochester,” which runs through Friday, Jan. 12.
As part of the retrospective, Gallery r is offering the public an opportunity to attend a speaker’s night from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8. Topics will focus on homeless issues, ways to help, and how the Rochester community is currently meeting these needs.
Speakers include Associate Professor Loret Steinberg from RIT’s School of Photographic Arts and Sciences, Sr. Grace Miller from House of Mercy, Erica Vera, network director for the Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network, and homeless Rochester resident Hubert Wilkerson.
Participants are encouraged to participate in a question-and-answer discussion following the presentations.
Gallery r, 775 Park Ave., RIT’s student-run metro showcase for contemporary art, is open from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free and the gallery is handicapped-accessible. For more information, call 585-242-9470 or visit Galley R website.
