The Communications Intern will work closely with the manager of Internal Communications at Covestro LLC, supporting the implementation of strategic initiatives and events to keep U.S. employees, informed, engaged and connected. In this capacity, the Communications Intern will help to maintain the day-to-day internal communications content and channels, partnering with diverse stakeholder groups across the company to curate, develop and share compelling stories in support of the strategy.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities
• Support the internal communications manager with the implementation of strategic initiatives and events to connect U.S. employees to company’s strategy, vision and values.
• Help to maintain the daily internal communications flow to ensure timely coverage of company news, events and initiatives.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups to curate, develop and share compelling stories about our people and products.
• Maintain existing communication formats and channels, while continually keeping an eye toward improvement opportunities.
• Write, edit and publish intranet articles for U.S. internal audiences.
• Compile and publish regional newsletter publications.
• Edit, maintain and revamp intranet pages as needed.
• Support with planning and logistics for internal events and forums (e.g., Town Halls, executive roundtables, etc.).
• Contribute creative ideas to engage employees as part of internal editorial planning team.
• Update and maintain the regional editorial calendar in support of a proactive internal communications strategy.
• Coordinate with U.S. site communicators to identify opportunities for cross-promotion.
• Represent Communications as needed on internal project teams and initiatives, including the creation and execution of rollout plans.
• Liaise with social media manager to highlight internal activities that contribute to external branding and engagement goals.
• Coordinate with Employee Resource Groups to develop and promote content in support of overarching Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) goals.
Minimum qualifications
• Currently enrolled in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in English, journalism, communications or a related field
• Candidates at the undergraduate level must have completed their junior year of studies.

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Critical thinking skills
• Graphic design skills and experience working in Adobe suite
• Demonstrated ability to work with external vendors to develop various assets (e.g., infographics, video, etc.)
• Knowledge and passion for digital platforms and new ways of working
• Independent, creative thinker who is comfortable taking initiative and contributing new ideas
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
