POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for implementing treatment plans and for the direct care and
safety of the students residing at Walden School.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide supervision and support for emotionally and behaviorally challenged
deaf and hard of hearing students ages 8-22 years during non-school hours.

Assist with the planning and implementation of daily activities designed to
promote personal and social growth.

Assist students with independent living skills and ensure proper personal
hygiene and attire.

Encourage participation in extracurricular activities and support students
during events such as field trips and outings.

Maintain accurate reports and daily logs while maintaining confidentiality.

Work collaboratively with teachers, clinicians, residential staff, and other
support personnel.

Develop and maintain meaningful and supportive relationships with the
children in order to promote healing and growth.

Implement strength based clinical plans, behavioral support plans, and crisis
intervention, as needed.

Implement Pro-ACT crisis management approaches and skills.

Provide support to students traveling to and from events such as field trips
and recreational activities; may be required to drive.

Some lifting and restraints may be required when working with young students
or students with special needs, however, TLC embraces and celebrates a spirit

will be made whenever possible. The diversity of our student population may
require that some assignments have a heavier physical responsibility due to
safety.

Requirements:
Human Service experience preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Safeguard and maintain confidentiality of all student, staff, and
organizational information
Demonstrates strong judgment, reliability, and professionalism
-Ability to write reports, document incidents, and emails
-Strong conflict resolution skills
-Ability to maintain appropriate adult / student boundaries
-Capable of managing crisis situations calmly and effectively
-Exhibits high levels of patience, empathy, and respect
-Ability to be trained in and implement Pro-ACT crisis management approaches,
including physical restraint, when necessary; skilled in assessing potential
issues and utilizing strategies to redirect or de-escalate a student’s
behavior
-Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
environment
-Valid driver's license, preferred, and willingness to transport students in
TLC vehicles
-A minimum of conversational fluency in American Sign Language required, with
native, or near-native ASL fluency preferred
-ASL classes may be required and are free to employees
