Non-English Speaking communities both domestically and globally. Our services
encompass Sign Language Interpreting, Spoken Language Interpreting,
Translation, Live Captioning, and Accessible Multimedia Services. Central to
our mission is bridging linguistic and cultural barriers with bespoke,
ethical, and cost-effective accessibility solutions—fostering genuine
inclusion in the communities we serve. Believing that neither budget nor
timelines should be a barrier to inclusion, ICS leads the language service
industry in supporting Art and Nonprofit organizations with reduced-rate and
pro bono accessibility services.

Role Overview
The ASL Staff Interpreter will deliver interpreting services both remotely
and on-site, ensuring clear and effective communication between Deaf and
hearing individuals across a variety of professional settings. This hybrid
position is based in New York City and is available as an internship,
part-time or full-time W-2 employment, or W-9 contract engagement. Travel
reimbursement is provided for all on-site assignments.

Key Responsibilities
•	Provide ASL interpreting services across diverse settings including
legal, medical, educational, business, and events.
•	Interpret for Deaf, DeafBlind, hard-of-hearing, and Deaf+ individuals.
•	Work both independently and as part of a collaborative interpreting team.
•	Maintain open communication with service coordinators, providing feedback
and updates after assignments.
•	Maintain a professional remote workspace with reliable internet and an
appropriate background for video remote interpreting (VRI) assignments.
•	Participate in team meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of
interpreting practices at ICS.



Requirements:
Required:
•	Enrollment in or graduation from an accredited Interpreter Training
Program (ITP).
•	Minimum of 2–3 years of interpreting experience.
•	Registration with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) is
mandatory for continued employment (beyond internship).
•	Comfort working across diverse sectors, including legal, medical,
business, and educational settings.
•	Reliable internet connection and a professional workspace suitable for
VRI.
•	Availability for travel to on-site assignments within the New York City
area.

Preferred:
•	Experience or expertise in tactile interpreting, theatrical interpreting,
trilingual interpreting, or legal interpreting.
•	Availability for evening or weekend assignments.
