Job Title: Community ASL Teacher (Part Time)
Job Type: Part-time
Start Date: ASAP
Address:
848 Central Street
Framingham, Massachusetts. 01701
United States

Job Description:
This position will design, develop, implement and teach ASL Classes for the
Community which we serve. At TLC, we are home to two world-class schools
serving deaf and hard of hearing students in a bilingual/bicultural setting,
The Marie Philip School and The Walden School. We offer a range of
community-based services that benefit deaf and hard of hearing children,
adults, and their families. This position aims to build a robust, in-house
ASL Classes program for our community. Community ASL classes are among our
many avenues in reducing systemic barriers to serving our own and other deaf
students, families, and staff in a fully linguistically-accessible,
culturally-competent manner. Successful implantation of this work should
produce an increased value in the perspectives, identities, communication,
and contribution of ASL and Deaf Culture, and strengthen the impact of ASL
acquisition to counter language deprivation among deaf and hard of hearing
children in our communities.

This job will be primarily remote until it is safe for all to be on campus.

Supervisor: ASL Program Analyst

Functions and Responsibilities:

Teach ASL classes for the Community in American Sign Language on a virtual
platform and fulfill other responsibilities related to instruction, including
but not limited to: advising and assist students, prepare class materials,

class surveys and evaluations.

Use assessment results and feedback from student evaluations to improve
teaching and learning.

Provide modeling for teaching ASL classes, if needed

Develop ASL-based materials to supplement the pace of ASL learning

Encourage and advise ASL-related participation and activities to maintain ASL
