Rochester Postdoctoral Partnership

The Rochester Postdoctoral Partnership provides mentored postdoctoral research training in biomedical and behavioral sciences for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (D/HH) Scholars, as well as for hearing scholars with a goal of working in higher education settings with DHH students. The goal of the RPP program is to develop a diverse group of highly trained biomedical and behavioral scientists to address the Nation’s biomedical workforce needs.

The Rochester Bridges to the Doctorate

The Rochester Bridges to the Doctorate program provides scientific mentoring for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, preparing them for doctoral degrees in biomedical or behavioral science disciplines.

Deaf and hard-of-hearing students who have been accepted into one of the biomedical or behavioral science master’s degree programs at RIT may apply for the Bridges program. Applicants must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better with a desire to become a biomedical or behavioral scientist.

MS in Experimental Psychology

Dr. Dye is an approved research advisor for graduate students in the MS in Experimental Psychology at RIT. Students take a number of courses in a variety of areas in Experimental Psychology and related fields. A graduate seminar course provides students with the chance to learn about behavioral research at RIT. Students select a thesis topic after determining a fit between their research interests and faculty expertise and interests. A formal research proposal is completed and publicly defended. The thesis and public thesis defense is a culmination of this work. Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate Research Training Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RIT U-RISE)

The RIT U-RISE program is designed to increase the number of underrepresented students who enter Ph.D. programs in the biomedical and behavioral sciences. The RIT U-RISE program is the first RISE program to specifically serve deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

​ Selected RIT U-RISE scholars will receive intensive training and wage support for working in research laboratories with RIT researchers and, eventually, in the laboratory of a mentor from another institution. Scholars also will attend local and national conferences, present papers and posters and publish or co-publish their work.

​ Dr. Dye is an approved mentor for the RIT U-RISE program and welcomes inquiries from students interested in applying to the program to work in the deaf 𝑥 lab. Please email mwddls@rit.edu for more information.

Undergraduate Student Employment

The deaf đť‘Ą lab has several undergraduate research positions funded by research grants. These positions are for 10-20 hours per week, and involve supervised work on research projects. Students will contribute towards the success of these projects, and learn valuable research skills in the process. These positions are posted on the Student Employment Office On-Campus Jobs board when they become available.
