Growing up as a child of deaf adults (CODA), I was deeply connected to the Deaf community and saw the need for interpreters, especially male interpreters for my dad. I chose RIT/NTID due to its strong Deaf community in Rochester and the excellent reputation of the interpreting program. The program’s real-life field experiences, personal attention from faculty, and collaborative peers have been invaluable. I plan to return home and give back to my local Deaf community and explore various interpreting fields after graduation.
