The Exhibition Experience: Robert Panara's Legacy
This design concept is rooted in the use of cardboard stacked and aligned with intentional gaps between each unit, to creates a rhythm of solids and voids and function both as spatial dividers and as wayfinding features, guiding visitors through the exhibition.
This concept is rooted in the use of cardboard—a sustainable, recyclable, and universally accessible material. Stacked and aligned with intentional gaps between each unit, the cardboard creates a rhythm of solids and voids, echoing the visual and spatial nature of American Sign Language, where meaning is found both in gesture and in silence.
The cardboard elements function as spatial dividers, a place to sit, and as wayfinding features, guiding visitors through the exhibition while reflecting Panara’s deep connection to communication, Deaf culture, and the layered experience of language.
