Expanded Space
Expanded Space: Mining for Spatial Cues | This exercise asks students to translate an existing two-dimensional artwork into three dimensions. The assignment is focused around ways in which one can analyze a given artifact in order to produce a series of different readings. Beginning with an abstract painting, students investigate the underlying structure, decipher where each potential element is layered in space, and construct a three-dimensional interpretation that reveals their findings.
