Illustrating Human Anatomy

Subin Park
Medical illustration BFA student Subin Park created this visualization of facial and carotid arteries for the program’s Illustrating Human Anatomy course. For the class, students translate drawings of lab dissections and the skeleton into illustrations designed to support instruction in human gross anatomy.
The illustration educates about the carotid artery, a major vessel that supplies blood to the head and neck. It also visually demonstrates the function of the facial artery, which arises from the external carotid artery and travels upwards to supply blood to the lips, nose, and other facial structures.
