RIT’S Tiger Activity Fair: A Great Place To Go

If you’re a new student, you might be wondering and worrying about finding friends on campus. One of the best ways to find people is to attend on-campus club meetings and find people there who have a shared interest. Dealing with the RIT club and event boards can be difficult at times, so what is the best way to find out what’s out there?

Ritchie the tiger

The RIT Tiger Activity Fair is an event held towards the beginning of the Fall semester meant to help connect you with student organizations.

The Fair features every official group on campus. Everything from sports teams to fraternities. Most of these clubs also have a Discord server. I'd recommend joining a few servers in order to see which clubs feel like a match and which ones don’t really fit you. Sometimes I find a club that sounds great that I just never have much time for due to my class schedule, and sometimes I find a club I wasn’t expecting to enjoy as much as I did.

Many people come to the Tiger Activity Fair, so you might be able to meet people even outside of a club setting. Maybe, even if you don’t end up going to the club that often, you can make a new friend with similar interests anyway, based on what booth people are looking at! The majority of the attendees are going to be freshmen, hunting for people to talk to just as much as you are.

Other Opportunities

Did you miss the Tiger Activity Fair, or are you looking for more specific groups?  There are some smaller fairs run throughout the year. Make sure to look at the Event Calendar to see upcoming opportunities. Often, these events will be held towards the start of the Fall semester.

One opportunity is FirstByte Club Fair, a club fair that only brings in student clubs and organizations affiliated with the College of Computing. If you have a big interest in computing and want to get even more involved with that world, check out this event.

Even if you do just want to focus on computing groups or anything more specific, I’d definitely try and check out the Tiger Activity Fair towards the start of the year. It could be a great way to get started and meet new people towards the beginning of the year.
