Maybe it's time for finals, a big exam, a massive project, or maybe you just want a quiet place to sit down and work. The campus has several spots you can use to study or just to have some time to yourself outside of your dorm room.
RIT Library
Of course, Wallace Library, like most libraries, is THE place to study on college campuses. Libraries have a reputation for being quiet, easy places to sit down and read your book of choice. No study spot list is complete without a good library! Alongside the quiet space, Java’s Cafe is a cafe located inside the library building. This is great if you just want to step in and grab a drink before heading off, or there are tables for you to sit at if you’re okay with a little bit of extra noise while you study.
Midnight Oil
Midnight Oil is located in Global Village, a center with multiple spots to eat and a market. While Global Village is not the quietest area for studying, Midnight Oil tends to only have noise from the people coming in and out. If you don’t need a completely quiet spot, this could be a good location to work that also has a bit of excitement!
DSP Computer Lab
Located in DSP, this computer lab is open 24 hours a day and offers printing. Since most people coming here are arriving to do work or print, the space is quiet and great for studying. Since this is located on the dorm side, getting here doesn’t take a long walk if you live in the dorms on-campus.
Student Alumni Union (SAU)
Huh? The campus center? This is a good spot to study? And the answer is yes! If you go to the Fireside Lounge or up the stairs to the second floor, you’re going to find areas with much less traffic and significantly less noise. Sometimes people play piano in the Fireside Lounge, which could make the space an even better choice if you like listening to soft music while you work. Bonus: you can also grab some food if you get hungry!
Academic Buildings
Some buildings, such as the Student Hall for Exploration and Development (SHED), will close after a certain time. While you can study late at night in some buildings, unused classrooms can be a great spot to study without being bothered by anybody coming in and out! If you don’t like any of the other options, finding your favorite room in the academic side of campus could be your best bet. It could just take some trial and error to find a room that is open during your chosen study times, is quiet enough, and has a good feel to it!
