Allen Douglas, lecturer in RIT's School of Art, is presenting as part of the College of Art and Design's weekly Brown Bag Faculty Lecture Series. His talk, titled "Off the Beaten Path — the Unusual Wildlife Artwork of Allen Douglas," is scheduled for noon to 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, in William Harris Conference Room (Gannett Hall, 2155).

Educated at Syracuse University, Douglas has been freelancing as an artist for over 25 years and created paintings for many notable book publishing, editorial and gaming clients, including Penguin Putnam, Tor, Berkley, Random House, Scholastic, HarperCollins, Harcourt, Little Brown, Holiday House, Macmillan/McGraw- Hill, Disney Hyperion, Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro, Upper Deck, Weekly Reader, the Village Voice and Realms of Fantasy. Additionally, his paintings have been exhibited in galleries and museums both in the United States and internationally, including Haven Gallery, Abend Gallery, Gallery Nucleus, the Mazza Museum of International Art from Picture Books, the Society of Illustrators in New York and Los Angeles and the Strong National Museum of Play. He is also currently part of the United States Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program, creating designs for coins and medals.

His artwork has been recognized by many prominent juried illustration competitions, including Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art, the Society of Illustrators of New York and Los Angeles, Art Renewal Center, Infected By Art, Ballistic Publishing and Step-By-Step Graphics. His studio is located in Rochester, N.Y., on the southern shores of Lake Ontario.
