Starting the Conversation: An Introduction to the Deaf World

Join panelists Dr. Jill Bradbury, Fred Beam, JW Guido, and moderator Andy Head for a dialogue about Deaf culture, best practices for working with deaf and hard of hearing people, and basic terminology.
Many hearing people, especially more recent arrivals to RIT, are unfamiliar with the Deaf community and feel uninformed about how to interact with deaf and hard of hearing colleagues and students. This workshop provides a new understanding of where to begin and encourages participants to bring their own questions to the conversation. Interpreters and captionists have been requested.
Open to all RIT and NTID performing arts faculty, staff, students, and student clubs. 20 participant spots are available.
