The presentation will focus on the spiritual and practical dimensions of health and wellness within the Muslim community, covering topics such as diet, exercise and other important health-related matters in the context of Islamic teachings. In addition, the presentation will discuss the challenges faced by Muslim individuals in today's sociopolitical climate and strategies for creating welcoming and inclusive environments in public institutions.
Attendees will gain a better understanding of the spiritual and physical dimensions of health and wellness within the Muslim community during Ramadan and an appreciation for the importance of accommodating the needs and concerns of Muslim individuals during this holy time.

Presenter’s bio:
Ismail Warsame is a proven leader with more than a decade in DEI work, community engagement & cross-cultural trainings. A native of Somalia, a former war refugee and a multilingual, Ismail has lived in, traveled through, or presented in more than a dozen countries, more than thirty US states, and four Canadian Provinces. Since entering the Higher Education field in 2010, Ismail has worn many hats, recruited students domestically and internationally, implemented, maintained and tested various software systems, and taught courses both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ismail currently works in the Risk Management Field in Aviation and Marine Transportation Industry.

Ismail holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and a Master’s of Education from the University of Maine. He studied abroad at the American University in Cairo, Egypt as an undergraduate student. In his free time, Ismail enjoys traveling and following the news on global events as well as domestic affairs. Ismail lives in Corvallis, Oregon but self-identifies as a global nomad. Ismail is an alumnus of Department of State Exchange Programs as well as the FBI's Citizens Academy.
