RIT Big Shot No. 34, which was scheduled for Sunday, March 22, at the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House and the surrounding neighborhood, has been postponed. The Big Shot team has not indicated a rescheduled date at this time. The alumni barbecue scheduled to precede the Big Shot also is postponed. Further information will be forthcoming through the Big Shot website: https://bigshot.cad.rit.edu/

These actions are being undertaken to mitigate the potential spread of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). While some campus operations and activities may continue, they will have adjustments, including cancellations. Conditions are evolving. RIT is working to provide additional information as quickly as possible.

RIT’s 34th Big Shot is celebrating Rochester’s notable histories as the birthplace of the women’s rights movement and photography.

With the help of volunteers, organizers of the longtime community photographic project will capture a dramatic nighttime image of Rochester’s National Susan B. Anthony Museum and House — named after the famed women’s rights icon — and the surrounding neighborhood. The event is scheduled for the evening of Sunday, March 22. The house and museum is located at 17 Madison St., Rochester 14608.

The RIT Big Shot, started in 1987, is a “painting with light” event that engages student and community volunteers to provide the primary light source for an image while photographers shoot an extended exposure.

All are welcome to participate in this unique experience of helping to create a dynamic image of a local historic landmark. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 7:15 p.m. with a flashlight or camera flash unit, wearing dark clothing. An information desk will be set up on the east side of the park near the museum.

Parking

The parking lot of the nearby Data Vault Storage Services (48 King St.) is available for use, as are other surrounding streets. However, parking for the event is prohibited on the following streets: Madison Street, Madison Park North and Madison Park South.
