RIT China
RIT’s Saunders College of Business and Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) School of Economics and Management embarked on a strategic international partnership in 2012.
This collaboration blossomed further in 2015 when RIT became BJTU’s first international partner to deliver joint degree programs at BJTU’s new Weihai location, and established itself as one of many renowned international partners offering graduate degree and exchange programs at the Beijing campus.
About BJTU
BJTU is one of the three original Jiaotong universities. Originating from the Beijing Railway Management Institute, BJTU was China's first institution for railway management and telecommunication technologies. Over its distinguished history, BJTU has remained closely connected with the nation's railway industry, with faculty and staff contributing significantly to the expansion of China’s railways. Today, BJTU is celebrated for its range of academic programs and its emphasis on student innovation.
BJTU’s main location in Beijing spans two campuses in the Haidian District. It houses 14 academic schools with nearly 3,000 faculty and staff, featuring advanced facilities including smart-classroom technology, two libraries, a stadium, and various student life amenities.
About the Weihai Campus
In 2015, BJTU opened a new campus in Weihai, located on the east end of the Shandong Peninsula. This campus is the site of a unique collaboration between RIT and BJTU, where they offer a joint BS degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) to over 300 students. Students in this program graduate with dual degrees: one from RIT and one from BJTU. All RIT classes are conducted in English and taught by RIT faculty, ensuring a high-quality education that meets international standards.
The Weihai campus is situated in the scenic Weihai Nanhai New Area, a region developed in 2007 as a key marine economic zone of the Shandong Peninsula. Surrounded by wetlands, pine forests, hiking trails, and 12 kilometers of golden sand beach, the campus offers a tranquil and inspiring environment for study and leisure. Students and faculty can enjoy various recreational activities, including exploring the natural surroundings, visiting the waterpark, participating in cultural and arts festivals, and savoring the renowned Weihai seafood cuisine. Additionally, the campus's location provides easy access to explore larger nearby cities such as Weihai City, Wendeng District, Rongcheng City, and Rushan City.
